WHAT IS HURRICANE FC?
Hurricane FC is the new developmental team of the Palm Beach County. Beginning in 2015, HurrricaneFC is playing in the American premier soccer league (APSL) and United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) starting in 2018. We main work with U-23.
Started in 2015 as a member of the American Premier Soccer League (APSL), Hurricane FC has twice participated in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds, advancing to a second round game in 2016.
“We have a lot to offer the players of this area and we want to grow the Hurricane FC name,” Franca said. “We’re working on it and joining a national league like the UPSL is the right step forward for us.”
Hurricane FC has a scouting relationship with AC Delray, a local youth club where Franca serves as a coach.
Players mix with a few experience older players. The aim for the U-23 players is to develop talent at a high level and make a transition for them to others higher level leagues.
WHAT IS THE UPSL?
The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 140 teams in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. UPSL is the fastest growing Pro Development League in the USA, with 140-plus teams targeted for 2018 Spring Season. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated, and is responsible for maintaining either UPSL Pro Premier Division or Championship Division minimum standards.
UPSL teams are all eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the leagues affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
